Body Mass Index
How to evaluate your Body Mass Index (BMI)
Obesity can be calculated by the amount of body fat you have in your body. Known as the Body Mass Index or BMI, it is measured by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared (BMI = kg / m2).
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines overweight with a BMI equal to or greater than 25 and obesity with a BMI equal to or greater than 30, demonstrating that a large percentage of overweight people will become obese during their lifetime.
Use the chart below to evaluate your BMI classification.
| WHO Category | BMI | Health Risk |
| Underweight | <18 | -- |
| Normal weight | 18-25 | Normal |
| Over weight | 25-30 | Incremental |
| Grade 1 Obesity | 30-35 | Moderate |
| Grade 2 Obesity | 35-40 | Severe |
| Grade 3 Obesity | >40 | Very Severe |
